Life in North East Victoria is never boring on the beautiful property I share with two dogs, five horses and the most supportive husband ever who has my back with all of my crazy plans!

Accounting may be my background but behind that exterior beats the heart of a creator! Ever since I was little, I’ve had a love affair with colour, texture, and all things crafty! Whether it was playing with yarn, trying new materials, or getting my hands into a messy project, creating and crafting was always a happy place!

After a broken leg left me laid up for a while a few years ago, I started doing macrame again, something I had done in my teens. It was the perfect way to pass the time — and it turned into something I really enjoyed and I began creating pieces that I sold. Enter the world my Facebook page THE COTTON CHICK!

Now even though I love lots of crafts, I still like a project where I can see an end date. I like to get it done and then be able to oohh and aahh at what I’ve just made! Nothing worse than starting some great project and it ends up in the back of the craft cupboard never to be seen again.  So, when I discovered something new: FINGER KNITTING, I thought WOW, this is awesome, you can literally make a blanket in a few hours! I WAS HOOKED!

I started exploring Chunky Chenille Yarn, but there was one small problem – I couldn’t find any yarn in Australia and it was way too expensive to buy from overseas. “How can this be? I want to do this now!”  My wheels started turning: “What if I could find a supplier and bring this amazing yarn here?” After months of trying out yarn samples, I finally found my supplier, and started FINGER KNITTING my own creations with my own Chunky Chenille Yarn which I have called SMOOSHIE YARN – once you touch it, that’s the perfect word to describe how soft and cosy this yarn is!  Since then THE COTTON CHICK is now fully focussed on creating all sorts of goodies and also retailing SMOOSHIE CHUNKY CHENILLE YARN right here in Australia!

Fast forward, and here I am, launching a website with over fifty beautiful yarn colours and my very first DIY Kits plus loads more! So much has happened, I’ve got so many ideas running around in my head and I’m just getting started!
